Per a Facebook message Wednesday morning, 5-star junior Quin Blanding revealed that he will announce his college choice on Wednesday, February 27. Per the message, the announcement will take place at Bayside High School (Virginia Beach, VA) at 2:30 p.m.
At 6’2″, 195-pounds, Blanding has excelled at safety and wide receiver in his time at Bayside. As a junior he totaled 55 receptions for 1,035 yards and six touchdowns on offense. Defensively, Blanding racked up 111 tackles and had five interceptions.
Blanding is rated a 5-star prospect by Rivals.com, Scout.com, and 247Sports.com. Rivals currently rates him as the no. 4 overall player in the nation, while 247Sports (no. 7) and Scout (no. 10) also have him as a top 10 overall player in the nation.
UVa has enjoyed tremendous recent success at Bayside, most recently signing prized running back Taquan Mizzell in the class of 2013. Three former Marlins — linebacker Henry Coley , cornerback Tra Nicholson, and safety Anthony Cooper — are currently on the Cavaliers’ roster. UVa would love to continue its run at the Virginia Beach school, and considering the fact that Blanding has visited Charlottesville numerous times, it looks to be in good position to do so. .
Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Virginia and West Virginia are the final 10 schools being considered by Blanding, who boasted about 30 major college offers before narrowing the field last November.
