Of the four players listed at tailback this spring, Virginia football fans have seen three players in action. Kevin Parks , Clifton Richardson , and Khalek Shepherd all have logged carries for the Cavaliers in their careers. The fourth, Kye Morgan , redshirted as a freshman last fall but now he’s hoping to enter the fray and make a name for himself in the orange and blue.
If Morgan’s high school credentials are any indication, he’s got the tools to be a factor in the backfield competition or possibly on special teams. At Franklin High School in Somerset, N.J., he set school records with 4,010 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns. As a senior, Morgan rushed for 1,075 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging 7.6 yards per rush; he also added 9 receptions for 117 yards. Morgan earned All-American, all-state, and all-area recognition.
