Cape Henry’s Clarke Getting More D1 Interest

Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, VA) guard/forward Chris Clarke has not yet received his first college scholarship offer, but if the amount of major D1 interest he is receiving is any indication he won’t have to wait too much longer. The 6’6″, 190-pound rising junior is garnering interest from Alabama, Maryland, Old Dominion, Richmond, Virginia, VCU, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Clarke, a first-team all-Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools performer in the 2012/2013 season, is quick, long, and athletic. He can play off the ball but he also has the ball-handling ability to run the point, something he may do more of for the Dolphins next season.

“Next year I am going to have a bigger role,” said Clarke, who will be counted upon to help fill the void left by UVa-bound point guard Devon Hall , who was a major part of Cape Henry’s success the past few seasons. “I’ll probably be playing some point guard. I’m a point forward.”

Offensively, Clarke has shown he can get to the basket and finish. This AAU season is about developing his touch from the outside, in particular from 3-point range. Because of his length and athletic ability, Clarke is a versatile defender and plus rebounder.
