Devin Robinson’s Stock On The Rise

It has been quite a year for Devin Robinson . The 6’8″, 175-pound forward helped Christchurch (VA) to a 24-7 overall record and a state championship crown, totaling 21 points and 11 rebounds in the VIS Division II final against Virginia Episcopal. Robinson’s stellar play has continued for the Richmond Squires AAU squad, and as a result he has seen his stock rise in the recruiting ranks.

“He does a lot of different things well,” Christchurch head coach Ben Thompson said of Robinson, who transferred from Manchester High School in Richmond before the start of his junior year. “He’s a super athlete and just a good kid all around. I think people are excited about his versatility. He does a lot of good things, and he has the chance to be a special player.”

Auburn, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Providence, and USC have extended scholarship offers to Robinson, the VIS Division II Player of the Year this past season. As you might expect, there is serious in-state interest as well.

“Virginia Tech has offered him. VCU offered him. UVa came and checked him out last fall, but I would say he was still raw back then. Back in September, he wasn’t at the level where he is today. I think Virginia was also a little hesitant back then because they were recruiting [Miller School rising senior wing forward] Isaac Copeland hard back then. They are similar players, I think. I wouldn’t be surprised if they took another look at him soon, but I know Tech and VCU are pretty high on him,” Thompson said.
