Confirmed Visitors: Oregon

Andrew Brown , pictured here at UVa’s Big Man Camp in 2012, has committed to UVa.

A large number of recruits were expected to be in Charlottesville on Saturday for the Oregon/UVa game. The turnout didn’t disappoint and featured a handful of Cavalier class of 2014 commitments, two of Virginia’s top remaining targets in the class of 2014, and prominent younger players as well.

In addition to class of 2013 signee Zack Jones , a wide receiver prospect reportedly attending Piedmont CC with an eye towards enrolling at UVa this January, seven of Virginia’s nine class of 2014 commitments were confirmed to be in Scott Stadium. Here is the list…

Quin Blanding , 5-star safety out of Bayside High School (Va. Beach, VA)

Andrew Brown , 5-star defensive lineman out of Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA)

Evan Butts , tight end out of Episcopal Academy (Newtown Square, PA)

Jordan Ellis , running back out of Peachtree Ridge (Suwanee, GA)

– JJ Jackson, outside linebacker out of Woodgrove (Purcellville, VA)

Steven Moss , offensive lineman out of Chancellor (Fredericksburg, VA)

Will Richardson , offensive tackle out of Burlington (Cummings, N.C.)

Seniors Derrick Nnadi are considered two of the top uncommitted prospects on UVa’s board. UVa has had offers out to both players for a long time. Heading into the weekend Virginia was the clear favorite for Kamara, wide receiver out of Bishop Sullivan (Va. Beach). The Cavaliers trailed several schools, most notably Virginia Tech and Florida State, for Ocean Lakes (Va. Beach) star Nnadi.

Bethel (Hampton, VA) star senior defensive tackle Ricky Walker did not have an offer from Virginia prior to the weekend but was in attendance. Walker is considering offers from Nebraska and Virginia Tech, among others.

Below is a rundown of all of those uncommitted prospects we confirmed to be in attendance (I have noted those players Virginia has offered). Stay tuned for reports in the coming days and weeks on these players and more.

Basketball Recruiting

– Maury (Norfolk, VA) freshman point guard Matt Coleman was at UVa on Saturday. Coleman boasts offers from ODU and UVa. He was last in Charlottesville for UVa Basketball’s Elite Camp in August.

– St. Anthony’s (Jersey City, N.J.) shooting guard Jagan Mosley was on grounds on Saturday. The 6’2″ sophomore impressed at Virginia’s Elite Camp in August.

– St. Christopher’s (Richmond, VA) sophomore shooting guard Nick Sherod also made it. Sherod, who has an offer from Virginia Tech, has been to UVa’s Elite Camp each of the past two years.

– Another sophomore, Woodberry Forest (VA) forward Sacha Killeya-Jones was in attendance.
