The Week In Review, 5th Edition

Quin Blanding ‘s 3-yard touchdown run had Bayside (Va. Beach, VA) even with Ocean Lakes, 7-7, after one quarter. It was all Ocean Lakes from there, as the Dolphins pulled away from the Marlins, 49-16. Blanding and company drop to 2-3 on the year.

The Virginian-Pilot has this story out on UVa’s 5-star recruit.

– Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA), which features UVa-bound 5-star defensive lineman Andrew Brown , blasted Lakeland, 56-6, to move to 4-0 on the season.

Caanan Brown , a Virginia commit who likely will start out at linebacker when he arrives in Charlottesville, helped Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater, FL) to a 38-14 win over Trinity Catholic. Clearwater CC is now 4-1.

– UVa tight end recruit Evan Butts had three receptions for 111 yards in Episcopal Academy’s (Newtown, PA) 38-20 win over Chichester. The Churchmen improved to 5-0.

– Peachtree Ridge (Suwannee, GA) cruised to a 49-0 shutout over Habersham Central. RB Jordan Ellis rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns (73, 8, 68) on just seven carries, helping Peachtree Ridge improve its record to 5-0.

– Upland (CA) is 3-2 following last week’s thrilling overtime victory over Santiago. UVa-bound cornerback/wide receiver Jeffery Farrar returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown and had an interception in the 43-42 win.

– Outside linebacker/defensive end Jordan Jackson and the Woodgrove Wolverines (Purcellville, VA) fell to Briar Woods to fall to 2-2 on the season. Woodgrove hopes to rebound this Friday night against Heritage.

– The Chancellor Chargers (Fredericksburg, VA) scored win number one, defeating Millbrook last week by a score of 37-3. Steven Moss and the rest of the Chancellor offensive line paved the way for Jamal Jones’ 157-yard, 3-touchdown rushing effort. According to Fredericksburg.com, the Virginia-bound Moss is primarily lining up at offensive guard.

– Cummings (Burlington, N.C.), which features offensive tackle recruit Will Richardson , lost to South Granville to drop to 1-5 on the year. The Cavaliers have a bye this week.
