UVa Reportedly Offers Colonial Forge Junior

Via Twitter, Taft Coghill of the Fredericksburg Free-Lance Star reports that Colonial Forge (Stafford, VA) junior athlete Gary Jennings has been offered scholarships by the University of Virginia and Old Dominion.

“Colonial Forge junior quarterback/WR Gary Jennings picked up offers from #UVA and #ODU today,” Coghill tweeted earlier today.

Colonial Forge head coach Bill Brown had the following to say about Jennings in an interview with me earlier this month…

Gary Jennings split time as our quarterback. I’m real excited about his abilities,” Brown said.

Jennings, who is 6’2″, 190 pounds, also saw action at wide receiver for the Eagles.

Before extending an offer to Jennings, Mike London was already in hot pursuit of 6’2″, 200-pound Colonial Forge senior wide receiver/defensive back Daniel Ezeagwu, who will be making an official visit to UVa this weekend. Coghill tweeted tonight that “the Cavs are considering offering” Daniel’s twin brother, David, who will also be in Charlottesville this weekend.

David primarily played defensive end his senior year after missing most of his junior year due to injury. He has been offered by JMU and Towson, schools that have offered Daniel as well. The brothers are very close and going to the same school is a serious consideration for both.

“David is an outside linebacker,” Brown said. “We played him down at defensive end as well. He was a pass rush guy for us. He was hurt in our first scrimmage of 2012 and missed most of his junior year. That, I think, impacted his recruiting process. He is 6’2”, 230 pounds. Is he an outside linebacker or is he a defensive end-type kid? We have him of him at both places, but I think the fact that he missed most of his junior year and we played him at defensive end, he is kind of undersized for that position. I know he is a good athlete and a good football player.”

Daniel Ezeagwu totaled 1,133 yards of offense, including 743 yards receiving, his senior year while also racking up 62 tackles, four forced fumbles and an interception at cornerback. In addition to Virginia, he is considering offers from Maryland and Old Dominion. He may take an official to Maryland the weekend of January 24-26.
