Graves Has Decision Timetable In Mind

Last Friday night, sophomore Ty Graves and his Page (Greensboro, N.C.) teammates rolled to a 102-64 win over Watauga in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. The 5’11” point guard accounted for five of his team’s 14 3s in the win, totaling 18 points and dishing out 12 assists. Graves has made 44-percent of his 3s, 50-percent of his field goals, and distributed 127 assists to only 27 turnovers while leading Page to a 26-2 overall record this season.

Graves’ focus is on helping his team capture the 2013/2014 4A state title, but following last Friday’s victory he and his father made time to head to Charlottesville to watch Virginia take on Syracuse.

“Ty loved it at UVa. He loves the coaching staff. He loves the way they do things,” said Kevin Graves, Ty’s father and Director of the Karolina Diamonds AAU squad. “Ty is a coach’s son. He knows the nuances of how basketball is played. We as a family appreciate the way UVa coaches, teaches, and plays basketball.”

Graves, who was offered a scholarship by head coach Tony Bennett following Virginia’s Elite Camp last August, was one of about nine or 10 recruits on hand to see Virginia clinch the ACC regular season championship.
