At 6’1”, 235 pounds, Jahvoni Simmons is a physical, strong, sure-tackling middle linebacker. The Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) rising senior has proven that he can play near the line of scrimmage, and this offseason he feels he is showing another side of his game.

“What I’m known for is getting down and actually hitting. I definitely can cover. I’ve been doing it for the past three or four years. I’m definitely comfortable with it, but my go-to-thing is tackling,” said Simmons, who has participated in Nike Football Training Camps at Charlotte and Northern Virginia this year.

Simmons’ scholarship offer total has easily reached double digits and includes some of the nation’s most storied programs. Alabama, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee, UVa, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin are among the schools that have offered. Simmons, who has visited Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech, is getting close to making the next step of his decision making process.

“I’m starting to look to narrow it down,” Simmons said. “Probably narrow it down in the next three to six weeks or so.”
