June 10 A “Dream” Day For Blackman

Cole Blackman characterized June 10 as a “dream.” On this day, Blackman, a 6’2”, 195-pound rising junior wide receiver prospect out of Glen Allen, Virginia, received a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia. Blackman immediately accepted, becoming the second class of 2016 prospect to verbally commit to the Cavaliers.

“I’ve been real close to an offer for a while,” Blackman said. Virginia was the first school to come through with an offer. “I’ve been talking about it with my family and my coach. We sat down and talked about the pros and cons of everything. It just feels like all roads led to UVa. It feels right to go to UVa. Once I got the offer, I told Coach Hagans I was ready to be the next 2016 class commit.”

Last Tuesday’s excitement began when Marques Hagans, who is entering his second year as Virginia’s wide receivers coach, called Glen Allen High School’s new varsity football coach, Keylon Mayo. In what is a common tactic in recruiting, Hagans asked Mayo to have Blackman give him a call. The talented receiver obliged, and at that point he learned he had been offered.

Following a conversation with Hagans, Blackman called head coach Mike London to inform him of his decision.
