Sabre Scoop: DE, WR Recruiting

As reported earlier, West Orange (Winter Garden, FL) senior defensive end Brandon Wilson is no longer a member of UVa’s class of 2015. The 6’4”, 240-pound Wilson revealed his decommitment and his subsequent commitment to Indiana on Twitter this past Sunday.

Wilson’s high school coach, Bob Head, said January enrollment was the top factor in the decision, so look for Wilson to enroll at Indiana this month. Presumably, he didn’t have that option with Virginia.

Wilson’s flip hurts on several fronts. For starters, Wilson is a talented prospect and was one of Virginia’s more highly regarded commitments in this class. He also plays defensive end, which is a position the Cavaliers are looking to address in this class. Virginia has commitments from two defensive end or defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid prospects in Rasool Clemons and Gladimir Paul, but Clemons has academic concerns that may keep him from being on Grounds next season.
