Sabre Scoop: Checking In On UVa’s Commits

UVa Class Of 2015 Signee Jarred Reuter

After being sidelined for two months with a thumb injury, University of Virginia-bound power forward Jarred Reuter has returned to the Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) varsity basketball squad. The 6’8”, 245-pound senior had 12 points in his first game back, a 78-68 win at New Hampton School on January 16. Here are some of his other notable performances since returning to the court…

– 10 points in an 8-point win over Wilbraham and Monson Academy
– 12 points in a 97-88 loss at Northfield Mount Hermon
– A team-high 11 rebounds in a 96-79 win over South Kent School

A loaded Brewster Academy team is 22-1 (7-1 in NEPSAC Class AAA) heading into tonight’s contest versus Lee Academy.

UVa’s Class Of 2016

All three of Virginia’s class of 2016 commitments are ranked in Scout.com’s recently updated Top 100 for the class of 2016. Forward Sacha Killeya-Jones is no. 40 while combo guard Kyle Guy is no. 87 and combo guard Ty Jerome is no. 97.

Kyle Guy

Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN) defeated Center Grove, 63-47, to improve to 7-11 on the season. The Bears have won two straight since dropping an 84-72 decision last Friday to North Central, a game in which Guy had 25 points. On the season, the 6’3” combo guard is averaging over 19 points and just under four rebounds and four assists per game.

Three regular season games remain beginning with Mount Vernon tomorrow followed by Noblesville on February 17 and Broad Ripple on February 24. The IHSAA Sectionals begin on March 3.

Ty Jerome

Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.) has dropped two straight to fall to 17-6. Last Friday, the Gaels lost to Cardinal Hayes in overtime, 69-65, and this Tuesday the team fell to Fordham Prep, 54-37. The 6’4” Jerome had 14 points against Cardinal Hayes but missed the Fordham game with an apparent eye injury. Judging by his Twitter post, it appears Jerome will return for tonight’s game against Stepinac.

Iona Prep had won 11 consecutive games before the loss to Cardinal Hayes. One of those win’s came against Christ The King, which features 4-star junior shooting guard/small forward Rawle Atkins. Jerome scored 24 points in the 64-50 win. Some highlights from that game are below…

Sacha Killeya-Jones

Virginia Episcopal School (Lynchburg, VA) surrendered a 15-point halftime lead and fell to Benedictine, 72-68, last night in Richmond (VA). The Bishops finished the regular season with a 17-6 record.

Killeya-Jones had 17 points in eight rebounds in a win over Miller School last week. VES then defeated Hargrave Military Academy before falling to Carlisle and Benedictine. As of this Tuesday, the Bishops are ranked co-No. 1 along with Blue Ridge in VISAA Division II.
