Hitting the camp and combine circuit is not on Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) quarterback Sonny Abramson’s offseason agenda.

“My main focus is preparing for my senior football season and Virginia,” said Abramson, a junior who verbally committed to the University of Virginia last November.

Abramson, a 6’2”, 215-pound signal caller, threw for 1,620 yards and 20 touchdowns his junior season. He started on the varsity his freshman and sophomore seasons as well, throwing for 2,109 yards and 20 touchdowns as a freshman, and 2,701 yards and 34 touchdowns as a sophomore.

“One of the things I love about being a quarterback is you have to constantly criticize every part of your game. I’m looking to get stronger in every part,” Abramson said when asked what he is looking to improve in the offseason before his senior year. “I want to improve my footwork, my straight-away speed, my throwing power. I’m constantly trying to improve myself. I want to make sure I’m three or four times better at all that stuff by the time I step on the field my senior season. I got some good advice from Coach Fairchild on working on mechanical stuff. I’m trying to tighten things up.”
