In-State Tight End Andrew Trainer Commits To Virginia

The University of Virginia football program has scored another commitment in the class of 2016. The latest pledge comes from 6’7″, 235-pound tight end Andrew Trainer, a product of St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia.

Virginia beat out several ACC schools for Trainer, who considered scholarship offers from NC State, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest before today’s decision. Connecticut, East Carolina and Illinois offered the standout tight end as well. Trainer is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals, and he comes in at no. 40 on my Virginia Top 40, a ranking of the top class of 2016 prospects in the Commonwealth.

Trainer, who is a 3-sport athlete at St. Stephens & St. Agnes, hauled in 17 receptions for 226 yards and two touchdowns as a junior last season. In addition to football, he plays on the Saints’ varsity basketball and varsity baseball squads.

Trainer becomes the eighth rising high school senior to commit to UVa’s class of 2016. Five of those commitments hail from the state of Virginia.
