Multiple outlets are reporting that UVa has extended a scholarship offer to DeAndre Hunter, a class of 2016 small forward prospect out of Friends’ Central in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Cavalier head coach Tony Bennett extended the offer yesterday, which was day three of the third Evaluation Period in July.

Bennett was spotted watching the 6’7″, 185-pound Hunter in action Thursday night, when the Philly Pride took on 1 Nation at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas. He watched Hunter in action again Friday morning.

Hunter has caught the attention of numerous scouts and analysts with his play this month.

Hunter, who participated in the 2015 NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals and a 3-star recruit by Scout and 247Sports. In addition to Virginia, the versatile and athletic wing has been offered by Connecticut, Massachusetts, Miami, NC State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joseph’s, Temple and Tennessee.

UVa has also offered shooting guard Andrew Jones and power forward Romello White during this month’s Evaluation Period. For all of the latest scholarships and numbers, be sure to check out our Scholarship Picture Page.

Courtside Films has had a highlight video of Hunter up since May. It is for you below to see.
