ESPN Ranks UVa Recruit Kyle Guy As A 5-Star

ESPN and Scout released their updated Top 100 rankings of class of 2016 men’s basketball recruits this morning. Following an outstanding spring and summer on the AAU circuit, Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN) combo guard Kyle Guy, a Virginia commit, has earned a 5-star ranking from ESPN. The 6’2″, 165-pound senior is slotted by ESPN as the no. 25 overall prospect in the class of 2016, while Scout ranks him as a 4-star recruit and the no. 53 overall recruit in the class.

Mamadi Diakite, C, Blue Ridge (St. George, VA)

ESPN: 4-star; No. 37 overall
Scout: 4-star; No. 46 overall

Diakite, who earned a 5-star rating from 247Sports, is awaiting official word from the NCAA on enrolling at UVa this fall. He is in the University of Virginia student directory and moved on Grounds this past weekend; however, no official announcement has been made. If everything goes as planned, Diakite will reclassify to the class of 2015.

Kyle Guy, CG, Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN)

ESPN: 5-star; No. 25 overall
Scout: 4-star; No. 53 overall

Ty Jerome, PG, Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.)

ESPN: 4-star; No. 54 overall
Scout: 4-star; No. 52 overall

Jay Huff, F/C, Voyager Academy (Durham, N.C.)

ESPN: Not Rated
Scout: 4-star; No. 88 overall

In addition, two of Virginia’s top remaining class of 2016 targets are in ESPN’s Top 100. Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) wing Braxton Blackwell is rated a 4-star and the no. 68 overall recruit in the class of 2016 by ESPN. Scout ranks Blackwell as a 4-star and no. 87 overall in the class. Wing prospect DeAndre Hunter has moved into ESPN’s Top 100 at no. 79. ESPN ranks Hunter as a 4-star recruit, while Scout ranks the Wynnewood (PA) Friends’ Central prospect as a 4-star and the no. 103 recruit overall.

– Diakite: 5-Star; No. 23 overall

– Jerome: 4-Star; No. 31 overall

– Guy: 4-Star; No. 38 overall

– Huff: 4-Star; No. 75 overall

Blackwell and Hunter are also rated as 4-star recruits by 247Sports, which slots Blackwell as the no. 61 overall recruit in the class of 2016 and Hunter as the no. 118 overall recruit in the class.
