UVa Offers Sophomore Point Guard Darius Garland

Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, TN) sophomore point guard Darius Garland announced that he has received a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia.

The 6’0″ standout had an impressive freshman season, averaging 13 points, 2.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals while helping Brentwood Academy to a state championship. As a result, Garland earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association first-team all-state honors and was a finalist for Division II-AA Mr. Basketball in Tennessee. This April he was named to the 2015-2016 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team.

ESPN ranks Garland as a 5-star recruit and the no. 12 overall prospect in the class of 2018.

Memphis offered Garland a scholarship in May of this year. Since then, he has received offers from Vanderbilt, Baylor, Tennessee, Louisville, Wake Forest, Arizona State and UVa.
