Bronco Mendenhall Hopes BYU-UVA Is Dropped From Future Schedules

New Virginia football coach Bronco Mendenhall experienced a pair of BYU-UVA games as the coach of the Cougars. He said Friday that he does not want to see the same matchup with his new job in Charlottesville.

BYU and Virginia have games scheduled for 2019 (Charlottesville) and 2020 (Provo). Future schedules can be found here.

“I have feelings for the players and this program – they’re not going away,” Mendenhall said at his BYU press conference. “They’re not going away in four years. I would just assume that game would be moved back to when I’m done coaching whenever that would be. I don’t want to play BYU and I don’t know how I’d handle it. If it’s up to me, I don’t want that to happen because this is the place that shaped and had such an influence on my life that I don’t see how that could happen and I hope it doesn’t.”

Mendenhall will be officially introduced at UVA on Monday morning at 10 a.m.
