UVA Football Recruiting Notes: New Offers

Here are some of the latest football recruiting news and notes from the past few weeks…

CAVS MAKING PUSH FOR WR HENNIGAN

UVA is looking to get back on the board in terms of class of 2017 commitments. At least one player the coaches are making a big push for is Thomas Hennigan, a 6’2″, almost 200-pound wide receiver prospect out of Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In addition to Virginia, Hennigan has also received a scholarship offer from Navy.

OFFER UPDATES

Position-wise, there is no doubt that the offensive line is a position the staff wants to address in a big way in this year’s class. UVA offered at least four more class of 2017 offensive line prospects in the past week’s time…

Additionally, Central (Carrollton, GA) safety Kyle Bailey tweeted yesterday that Virginia has come through with a scholarship. Tulane and Vanderbilt have also offered the 6’1″, 190-pound junior.

On March 18, Friendswood (TX) lefty signal caller Tyler Page tweeted that Virginia was the first school to offer him a scholarship. The Houston Chronicle’s former Preps reporter, Angel Verdejo, tweeted the following days after Page’s announcement.

On March 17, UVA offered in-state running back Lamont Atkins, a junior out of Lake Braddock (Burke, VA). Atkins is currently committed to Vanderbilt.

IN-STATE DE JORDAN WILLIAMS NAMES TOP 9

Via Twitter, Cox (Virginia Beach, VA) 4-star defensive end Jordan Williams named his top nine schools last week. He began his tweet with the following message…

“This Process Has Been Very Exciting For Me And It Is Truly A Blessing To Be In The Situation I Am In, But I Would Like To Start Narrowing My List Down. As New Offers Come In This List Can Change So This Is Not A Permanent List.”

Williams then listed, in no particular order, the following schools: Tennessee, Penn State, Wake Forest, USC, Notre Dame, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech.

UVA still has ground to make up to be considered one of the favorites. Making this initial list, though, is a positive. The next step is getting the 6’5″, 250-pound junior back on Grounds for another visit. He attended a Junior Day at UVA in late February.
