Jerome, a 6’5″ point guard prospect, graduates from Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.) this spring before moving on to UVA, where he will enroll for Summer Session No. 2 beginning on June 13. He was the first to verbally committed to Virginia’s class of 2016, doing so in September of his junior year just days following his first ever visit on Grounds. Along with combo guard Kyle Guy, forward/center Jay Huff and guard/forward De’Andre Hunter, Jerome signed a letter of intent with the Cavaliers last November.

As a junior in 2014/2015, Jerome averaged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists per game, earning all-state honors while leading his team to its first CHSAA Archdiocesan championship in school history. He earned the respect of national recruiting outlets with his play last spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit. 247Sports (no. 33), ESPN (no. 42), Rivals (no. 50) and Scout (no. 51) now rank the future Hoo as a Top 60 overall prospect in the class of 2016.

A promising start to Jerome’s senior season at Iona Prep ended on February 2, when he underwent double hip surgery. Tests revealed that Jerome had a misshaped ball socket and torn labrum in his right hip. He underwent the same surgery on both hips and hopes to be fully recovered by the time UVA preseason practices starts this fall.
