Center Tyler Fannin Makes The Call For Virginia

Bronco Mendenhall and company are starting to gain some momentum on the recruiting trail. Less than a week after scoring a verbal commitment from safety Joey Blount, UVA struck again when Mill Creek (Hoschton, GA) class of 2017 center Tyler Fannin announced his commitment to the Cavaliers.

UVA now has three class of 2017 verbal commitments in total, including Blount, Dominion (Sterling, VA) defensive lineman Tommy Christ, and Fannin.

In the hours following his announcement, Fannin took some time to tell TheSabre.com why he committed to Virginia. The 6’3″, 290-pound junior also considered offers from Cincinnati, Colorado State, East Carolina, Illinois, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee State (where his brother plays), and Tulane, among others.

“I know that UVA is my place. I feel at home there,” Fannin wrote in a Twitter direct message to TheSabre.com. “It feels special at UVA – the commitment to me and the commitment to win. It is going to be be an amazing time.”

Fannin becomes Virginia’s first offensive line commitment in this 2017 Class. Look for Mendenhall and company to take four or five more offensive line recruits in this class.

“[UVA offensive line coach Garett Tujague] says I fit their system perfectly and I understand the calls he needs to have made,” Fannin said in an earlier interview with TheSabre.com. “Mendenhall said if I earned it he would trust me to play early. He said I could earn a spot to play early.”
