He didn’t admit it beforehand, but the thought of committing to the University of Virginia was on Buena Park (CA) senior offensive line prospect Ryan Nelson’s mind when he headed out to Charlottesville last weekend for an official visit.

Most important to the 6’5”, 260-pound senior was seeing UVA in person, something he had not done before the trip. From touring the Grounds, watching Virginia take down Central Michigan for its first win of the season, and spending time with coaches and players, Nelson returned home knowing where he wanted to spend his college days.

Nelson and his parents returned home on September 25. The morning after, he announced through Twitter that he had verbally committed to the Cavaliers.

“The people just love their team and the college town atmosphere was awesome,” Nelson wrote in an interview over Twitter direct message.
