Virginia Scores Commitment From 3-Star Linebacker Javar Garrett

The Peddie School (Hightstown, N.J.) junior linebacker/safety Javar Garrett made an announcement the University of Virginia football program certainly appreciated.

“I am excited to announce that I will further my academic and athletic career at The University of Virginia,” Garrett wrote in the tweet below.

Garrett, who is rated a 3-star prospect and the no. 47 outside linebacker in the nation by 247Sports, earned first-team all-Mid Atlantic Prep League honors at linebacker last season. The 6’2”, 210-pound standout scored an offer from the Cavaliers while attending a Junior Day in Charlottesville on March 4. He also held offers from Indiana, NC State, Rutgers, Temple and Vanderbilt before committing to the Hoos today.

UVA’s class of 2018 now includes two defensive players in Garrett and outside linebacker Noah Taylor, as well as one offensive recruit in quarterback Wyatt Rector. The Cavaliers have landed two commitments within the past week as Rector came on board last Sunday.
