Greensboro Day (Greensboro, N.C.) class of 2018 wing John Newman claimed a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia on May 3. Newman, a 6’5”, 180-pound prospect, has been to UVA once before, for an Elite Camp before the start of his sophomore year. He may have a much more in-depth experience in Charlottesville soon.

Greensboro Day head coach Freddy Johnson says Newman and the Virginia coaches may be close to finalizing a June official visit. If the official does take place it would be during a UVA summer session. Session I ends June 10 but Session II begins June 12 and runs through July 8.

“My understanding from talking with my assistant is that they will have this done in the next couple of days,” Johnson said.

Boston College, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Providence and Wake Forest have also offered Newman, who has already used one official visit on Wake Forest and has visited Clemson unofficially several times. In addition to Virginia, are there any other official visits possibly in the works?
