Virginia Football Commit Grant Misch Shows Intensity, Leadership At Potomac Falls

No matter what position Grant Misch ends up playing for Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall, his current coach, Paul Barnes, is confident he will be successful.

“What [the Cavaliers] are getting position-wise, it doesn’t matter,” said Barnes, who guided Misch and the rest of the Potomac Falls (VA) varsity football squad to a 10-3 record in 2016. “Whatever position he plays, Grant will find a way to get the job done. If it’s at linebacker, he’ll get it done. If it’s at defensive end, he’ll get it done.”

A coach speaking highly of his player is nothing new. However, Barnes is speaking based on what Misch has proven on and off the field on the varsity level. Whether he was playing fullback, where he earned all-conference honors as a sophomore, or as a linebacker, where as a junior he totaled 97 tackles (11.5 for loss) with five forced fumbles and four pass breakups, Misch has produced for his team.

On the field, the 6’4”, 235-pound rising senior has thrived thanks to dedication in the weight room and “a mind for football,” Barnes said.
