Virginia football continues to recruit the state of Florida well during the Bronco Mendenhall era, and today’s successes gave the Cavaliers their first two recruits in the class of 2019.

Dunbar (Fort Myers, FL) juniors Seneca Milledge and Major Williams simultaneously announced their pledges to UVA earlier today. Milledge, a 5’6” speedster, has potential as a running back or H-back for the Wahoos, while the 6’1”, 170-pound Williams is a cornerback prospect.

“First off I would like to thank the man above for giving me this opportunity because without him [none] of this would be possible,” Milledge wrote in this tweet, which you can see in full by clicking here. “I would also like to thank my mother (Victoria Campbell), my cousin (Jarvis Bryant), my big brother (James Epps) and my head coach (Sammy Brown) for believing in me, leading me in the right direction and pushing me to strive for greatness. I thank coach Atuaia for noticing and giving me a chance to be apart of the CAVALIER family. I HAVE DECIDED TO VERBALLY COMMIT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA!!”

“First, I want to thank god because without him this wouldn’t be possible,” Williams wrote in his tweet, which you can see in full by clicking here. “I want to thank my coaches, administrators and principal at Dunbar High School for the support. I also want to thank my mother and my two older siblings for the support in this decision. Also I want to thank Coach Atuaia & Coach Howell for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to be apart of the CAVALIERS. I have decided to Verbally Commit to the University of Virginia.”

Milledge committed to NC State in February of 2017 but de-committed in July of 2017. In addition to the Wolfpack and Cavaliers, the standout prospect also boasts scholarship offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Florida, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, among others.

According to this report, Milledge totaled 843 yards rushing and 253 yards passing with 15 touchdowns (13 rushing, two passing) while seeing time at quarterback, running back and wide receiver during his junior season. Rivals and 247Sports (Composite) rank the talented athlete as a 3-star prospect and among the Top 100 juniors in the Sunshine State. ESPN.com National Football Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton described Milledge as “one of the nations fastest 2019 prospects” in this tweet.

Williams, who received his Virginia offer on February 16, also claimed offers from Central Florida, NC State and Florida International. He reportedly had three picks and a fumble return for a touchdown last season as a junior. Like Milledge, Williams is rated a 3-star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports (Composite).

Virginia signed three prospects out of Florida in the 2017 Class, Coach Mendenhall’s first full recruiting class since taking over as Cavalier head coach in December of 2016. Four more student athletes from the Sunshine State inked with UVA football in the 2018 Class. Running backs coach Mark Atuaia, who helps recruit Florida for the Hoos, shared his pleasure with today’s news via Twitter.
