Virginia Men’s & Women’s Lacrosse Teams Receive NCAA Tourney Bids

The 2018 NCAA Tournament fields for both men’s and women’s lacrosse have been revealed. The University of Virginia has earned at-large bids in both events.

The Virginia men’s team (12-5) travels to No. 6 seed Loyola Maryland (12-3) on Saturday, May 12. Game time is 7:15 p.m. EST and ESPNU will carry it live. The Hoos defeated the Greyhounds at home in overtime, 13-12, in the regular season opener for both schools back on February 10.

Virginia boasts a 6-1 record in road and neutral-site games heading into the NCAA tournament. The Hoos compiled a 3-5 record against teams in this year’s tourney field.

The Cavalier women earned their 23rd straight NCAA Championship invite despite finishing the 2018 regular season with a 9-8 record and losing in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. They’ll take on Pac-12 champion Stanford, which boasts a 15-4 mark heading into NCAA tournament, in first round play on May 11 at 6 p.m. EST in Harrisonburg (VA). The winner gets No. 3 seed James Madison on May 13.

The 2018 campaign has been a tale of two seasons for Virginia women’s lacrosse, which won seven of its first nine games before losing seven of its final nine. The Cavaliers own a 3-8 record against teams in the NCAA tournament field.
