Flint Hill Defensive Back Trey Rucker Set To Visit Virginia

Flint Hill (Oakton, VA) standout Trey Rucker, a 2017 VISAA Division 1 All-State first team defensive back, impressed University of Virginia co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Nick Howell with a workout at his school on April 30. The 6’0”, 190-pound rising senior impressed to the point that he would receive some good news from Howell later that same day.

“[Virginia’s coaches] started pursuing me late winter (of 2017/18),” Rucker recalled in an interview over Twitter direct message. “I didn’t expect anything from them. I just performed well when it mattered and they offered me after watching me workout.”

Asked for his initial thoughts on the development, Rucker wrote: “I was just excited when they offered me because I’ve been working so hard for one. They was the first to give me one. I love them for that.”

Rucker’s recruiting success has continued into the month of May, with James Madison and Indiana extending scholarship offers. Besides Virginia, Temple, Boston College, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan State, JMU, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Virginia Tech and Syracuse have been represented at Flint Hill during this Spring Evaluation Period. Temple and Wake Forest have shown the “highest interest” of the schools that have not offered.
