Devon Hall Selected In Second Round Of 2018 NBA Draft

With the 53rd pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder selected former University of Virginia guard Devon Hall.

Hall, who starred for his father, Mark, at Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, VA) before heading to UVA, is the fifth UVA player taken in the NBA Draft in the past seven years. Justin Anderson was a first-round selection in 2015. Mike Scott (2012), Joe Harris (2014), and Malcolm Brogdon (2016) were second-round selections. All four players remain in the league.

Known for his determination and hard work, Hall redshirted as a true freshman in 2013-14 and played in only 20 games as a redshirt freshman in 2014-15. The 6’6″, 206-pound guard worked his way into the starting lineup in 2015-16, starting 20 of 37 games that season, before starting all 68 of UVA’s games the past two seasons.

“We feel like we know him really, really well,” Oklahoma City Thunder Vice President of Identification & Intelligence Will Dawkins said of Hall in this report on the Thunder’s official website. He’s able to play on the ball and off the ball. We’re interested in seeing him just kind of get on the floor and fit in with our other wings.”

Hall was a fifth-year senior this past season, which was also his best on the collegiate level. The 2018 All-ACC second-team selection, 2018 All-ACC defensive pick, and Virginia tri-captain established career-highs in points per game (11.7), assists (107), and 3-point shooting percentage (43.2%) while helping the Hoos to a 31-3 overall record as well as ACC regular season and postseason championships.
