This is the week Virginia football welcomed the rest of its first-year class. Well, at least most of them. The only player we have not confirmed yet is wide receiver Wooby Theork, and the 2018 season roster has not yet been updated to reflect the new additions.

Below are a few photos and a video of UVA’s new arrivals, who begin classes on Monday, July 16 – the beginning of Summer Session III.

The below tweet is of all four of UVA’s first-years out of Hawaii. From left to right, running back Wayne Taulapapa (the class of 2016 signee took a two-year mission before enrolling), defensive lineman Samson Reed, offensive lineman Micah Mariteragi, and defensive lineman Aaron Faumui.

”Meet The Team” Date Set

In case you missed it, Virginia football has announced its “Meet The Team” event is scheduled for Saturday, August 4. The event will coincide with a “Movie Night” that also will be held in Scott Stadium.

Virginia Athletics will host its annual Meet the Football Team Night and Scott Stadium Movie Night on Saturday, Aug. 4 at Scott Stadium. This marks the first time both of these events have been held on the same evening. Gates open at 6 p.m. for the free event. The north, east and west gates will be open and parking is free in the lots adjacent to the stadium.

The “Clear Bag” policy and new security measures that were instituted for the 2017 football season will be in effect for entrance into Scott Stadium for the event.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet the football team and receive autographs on the field beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the football autographs session, the 2004 movie, “The Incredibles” will be shown on the Hoo Vision screen starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Fortune Set To Announce Decision

Central Gwinnett (Lawrenceville, GA) defensive back Nicktroy Fortune won’t be committing on August 11 as previously announced. Instead, we’ll find out where the 3-star rising senior will be attending college much sooner.

Fortune, a 6’1”, 180-pound prospect, took an official visit to UVA on June 22. The Hoos and West Virginia appear to be the favorites here with WVU holding an edge right now in the 247Sports Crystal Ball feature. Fortune included both the Cavaliers and Mountaineers in his Top 6 released on June 9. The list also included Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, and Rutgers.
