Virginia Basketball Notes: Battle 4 Atlantis Bracket Announced

Via Twitter, Virginia basketball released the official bracket for the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, which takes place on Paradise Island, Bahamas, November 21-23.

The Hoos’ first-round opponent is Middle Tennessee State, which went 25-8 (16-2 in Conference USA) in 2017/18. The Blue Raiders figure to face a challenging road this coming season. Former UNC Asheville head coach Nick McDevitt is the program’s new head coach, taking over for the departed Kermit Davis, who was hired away by Ole Miss. All four leading scorers from last season, including Nick King, who averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds per game, are gone. Only one player who averaged double-digit minutes per game last season returns.

Game 1 of the Battle 4 Atlantis pits Florida against Oklahoma. Stanford and Wisconsin face off in Game 2, and Butler and Dayton meet in Game 3. Game 4 is Virginia versus MTSU, with the winner meeting the winner of Game 3.

Perrantes Heading Overseas

Eurohoops.net reported on Monday (July 23) that former Virginia point guard London Perrantes has signed with Limoges, a professional team out of France. According to the report, the deal is for 2018/2019, during which Perrantes will play for Limoges in French Pro A League and EuroCup competition.

Perrantes was with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-way contract this past season. He primarily played in the G-League, averaging 11.9 points and 7.8 assists per game in 35 games with the Canton Charge, but he did appear in 14 games with the Cavaliers. Cleveland waived Perrantes in June before joining the San Antonio Spurs in 2018 NBA Summer League play.

Hall, Wilkins In Training

Damin Altizer, co-owner of DR1VEN Training, tweeted the below video of former Hoos Devon Hall and Isaiah Wilkins training at John Paul Jones Arena. The 6’5” Hall, a second-round pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2018 NBA Draft, recently completed NBA Summer League competition. As of yet he has not signed a contract with the Thunder.

The 6’7” Wilkins has signed a training camp contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

Joe Harris Officially Back In Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets officially announced the re-signing of former University of Virginia guard Joe Harris. While the terms weren’t made public, it was reported earlier by ESPN that the deal is for two years and worth $16 million.
