Strategy Session: Virginia Basketball Post July Evaluation Report

Virginia head coach Tony Bennett offered a scholarship to class of 2019 guard Chase Hunter in late July and class of 2019 post Kadin Shedrick last week.

Our last Strategy Session feature, released July 5, focused on the three July Evaluation Periods and where the staff may focus their efforts. While Virginia is still recruiting in 2019, a large focus in July – at least if you go by scholarship offers – was on class of 2020 recruits.

Five rising juniors have been offered by Virginia since the first July Evaluation Period began on July 11. This includes four wing prospects – Symir Torrence, Keon Johnson, Henry Coleman III and Johnny Juzang – and stretch post Walker Kessler. By contrast, only two rising senior recruits have been offered by head coach Tony Bennett since that time – Westlake (Atlanta, GA) guard Chase Hunter and Holly Springs (N.C.) post Kadin Shedrick.

Before we dive more into Virginia’s class of 2020 recruiting, though, here is a refresher of where the Hoos stand in the class of 2019.
