Virginia football has received some good news on the class of 2019 recruiting front, as Sharpsville (PA) senior offensive tackle JaQuay Hubbard announced his verbal commitment to the Cavaliers over Mississippi State, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Hubbard made the announcement on Saturday (September 1), which is also his 18th birthday.

Rivals.com has assigned the 6’5″, 320-pound senior a 4-star ranking, giving Virginia its third 4-star recruit in this class.

Hubbard, who narrowed his list to four in July, took official visits to Mississippi State and Virginia before reaching his decision. The official to Starkville came in the spring, while the official to UVA occurred in late June.

Since he was named Virginia football head coach in December of 2015, Bronco Mendenhall made it clear that building the offensive line was one of his top priorities on the recruiting trail. UVA signed five offensive line recruits in 2017 (the first full class in the Mendenhall era) and five more in 2018. With the 6’5”, 320-pound Hubbard in the fold, Virginia now boasts four offensive line commits in the 2019 Class.
