Head coach Tony Bennett stopped by Greensboro Day this past Sunday (September 9) to further evaluate the 6’3” sophomore, who had taken an unofficial visit to UVA on August 24. As a freshman at Greensboro Day, the sharp-shooting McCorkle averaged 10.7 points per game for head coach Freddy Johnson’s team, which captured the 2018 North Carolina 3A championship.
This spring and summer McCorkle played for Garner Road 2020 West on the Adidas Grassroots 16U circuit. The team went 7-1 and had a final four finish in the Adidas Summer Championships, and was runner-up at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas. He has also earned a spot on the 2018 United States Youth Olympic Games Men’s Basketball Team, which will compete at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 6-18.
