Seemingly in the blink of an eye (although it was just a shade under a month), the Virginia men’s basketball program filled out its 2020 Class. As of this writing, the Cavaliers’ recruiting haul – consensus 4-star point Reece Beekman (a player Tony Bennett pursued heavily since the summer of 2018), 3-star shooting guard Carson McCorkle (another player Bennett offered in the summer of 2018), and consensus 4-star Jabri Abdur-Rahim (Virginia offered this May and went full steam ahead this spring and summer) – is rated the no. 1 class in the country by 247Sports and is no. 2 by Rivals.
No scholarships remain for 2020. That obviously could change if there is attrition, but for now the focus shifts to recruiting the class of 2021 and beyond. Before taking a closer look at 2021, however, here is the latest on Virginia’s three rising senior pledges and their AAU season performances.
Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Guard/Forward, Playaz Club (N.J.)
The Playaz finished 2019 Nike EYBL session play with a 3-10 record, leaving them out of the 2019 Peach Jam. While UVA’s most recent class of 2020 pledge didn’t make the trek to North Augusta, South Carolina last week, he certainly made a strong impression in Atlanta, Indianapolis and Dallas, where EYBL “regular season” were held.
