Four-Star Class Of 2021 Wing Peyton Watson Schedules Official Visit To Virginia

Consensus 4-star and national top 30 prospect in the class of 2021 Peyton Watson will make the cross-country trek to the University of Virginia in a little over two weeks from now for an official visit. The Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA) wing revealed his plans via Twitter on Wednesday (October 23).

Watson, who is listed anywhere from 6’5” to 6’7” and 170 to 185 pounds depending on what website you see, is rated by 247Sports (no. 27) and Rivals (no. 30) as a top 30 junior nationally while ESPN ranks him as the no. 52 overall prospect in the class of 2021. Earlier this month he participated in the 2019 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team minicamp, which was attended by Cavalier class of 2020 commit Jabri Abdur-Rahim.

Prep Hoops produced highlights of the promising prospect playing for The Truth (CA) on the 2019 16-and-under Nike EYBL circuit this past April.

Here are some more looks at the California native.

Watson has taken official visits to Arizona (September 13-15) and Washington (September 27-29). New NCAA rules allow high school juniors to make five official visits from August 1 before their junior year until the completion of their junior year. They can then take five more official visits from the end of their junior year until October 15 following their senior year.

Arizona (per 247Sports and Rivals) and Washington (per 247) have reportedly offered the highly regarded Watson, who also reportedly boasts offers from Arizona State (per 247), Maryland (per Rivals), Oregon (per 247), USC (per 247) and Utah (per 247), among others. Virginia is not one of the reported offers just yet; however, one seems likely to come given Watson’s plans to take an official visit.

Virginia currently has four open scholarship spots in class of 2021 recruiting. The Hoos have hosted Paul VI (Fairfax, VA) guard Trevor Keels and Blackhawk Christian (Fort Wayne, IN) power forward/center Caleb Furst on official visits so far. Both Keels and Furst (read more about Furst via the EDGE by clicking here) have been offered by head coach Tony Bennett.
