Four-Star Offensive Tackle Jimmy Christ Flips From Virginia To Penn State

One of the most highly regarded prospects in the University of Virginia football program’s class of 2020 has decided to take his talents elsewhere.

Dominion (Sterling, VA) offensive tackle Jimmy Christ, a 6’7”, 285-pound senior, Rivals.com 4-star recruit, and Virginia pledge since April of this year, took to Twitter to announce his decommitment from the Cavaliers. In the tweet he wrote: “After a lot of prayer and talking with my parents I have decided to decommit from the University of Virginia. I am so thankful for everything the coaching staff and university has done for me. It was not an easy decision but I think it is best for me to consider other options. I wish UVA the best in the future.”

A few hours later, the in-state standout posted another announcement.

Christ’s decision drops Virginia’s class of 2020 commitment total to 11. Only one of those commitments – Jestus Johnson of Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) – is expected to play on the offensive line. Virginia remains in play with several other offensive line prospects in this class, including fellow northern Virginia product James Pogorelc, but does not appear to be the favorite for any of its remaining top targets at this point.

Christ’s brother, Tommy, is in his third year at Virginia. He played on the defensive line his first two seasons, redshirting in 2017, before moving to the offensive line in 2019.

  1. What a stupid kid. He should have never committed to a instate school if he was not sure. Now he will bring hard times to his brother and alienate himself from most of the state of Virginia’s football teams. I wonder what Penn State(child molester university) offered him to de-commit. He needs to change his last name to Lucifer.
