Virginia Football Commit Jay Woolfolk Has “Natural Leadership Ability,” His Coach Says

Benedictine College Prep (Richmond, VA) has enjoyed its share of top college football recruits within the past decade. The list includes defensive end Clelin Ferrell, who starred at Clemson before being selected no. 4 overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft, Penn State linebacker Ellis Brooks, UNC linebacker/defensive end Chris Collins, and former Duke/soon-to-be JMU wide receiver Scott Bracey, among others.

Dual-threat quarterback Jay Woolfolk highlights Benedictine’s class of 2021. He has declared his intentions to attend the University of Virginia.

“We’ve had a lot of great football players, and I think he’s maybe our best,” Benedictine head coach Greg Lilly said of the 6’1”, 200-pound Woolfolk. “He’s a great player.”

Woolfolk, whose father, Pete, starred for the University of Richmond basketball team that upset defending national champion Indiana on its way to the 1988 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen, pledged to Virginia early last December, days after he watched the Hoos defeat Virginia Tech in Scott Stadium.
