Virginia Football Recruiting Notes: Green Wins State Title; Twitty Sets Decision Date

University of Virginia-bound senior Michael Green capped off an outstanding high school football career by leading Lafayette High School (Williamsburg, VA) to a 27-13 victory over Lord Botetourt in the VHSL Class 3 state championship game.

Green, who signed with UVA as a linebacker, came through with two clutch touchdowns for the Rams (9-0). The first was a 28-yard touchdown catch that put Lafayette up 10-7 in the third quarter. The second clinched the championship.

With less than two minutes remaining in the game and Lafayette leading, 20-13, the Rams lined up to punt on fourth down. A fast rush forced the 6’4″, 215-pound Green to pull the ball down and run. Through pure determination, he crossed the goal line 40 yards later for the game-clinching score.

Green took to Twitter to express gratitude for his high school career. The next step is Virginia, and he is expected to enroll in Charlottesville this summer. Green is part of what is UVA’s most highly acclaimed recruiting class in the Bronco Mendenhall era.
