Virginia Basketball Offers 5-Star Rising Junior Point Guard Caleb Foster

Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) point guard Caleb Foster, considered one of the top overall prospects in the class of 2023, has added the University of Virginia to his already lengthy list of scholarship offers.

How highly regarded is the 6’4”, 185-pound floor general? Rivals and ESPN rank him as a 5-star prospect, and 247Sports ranks him as a high 4-star recruit. All three national outlets include Foster among the top 22 overall rising juniors in the nation, with Rivals (no. 10) and ESPN (no. 14) including him in the top 14.

In addition to Virginia, Foster claims scholarship offers from Auburn, College of Charleston, Charlotte, Clemson, Georgetown, Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, Memphis, NC State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Washington. Known visits include Georgia and Louisville.

Foster attended Hickory Ridge High School (Harrisburg, N.C.) before transferring to famed Oak Hill Academy, where he impressed as a sophomore this past season. Foster received acclaim for his performance at the Geico Nationals event this past April, with ESPN’s Jonathan Givony naming him one of the “potential NBA prospects” who “impressed” at the event. Pro Insight named Foster the best shooter at the event.

Foster plays for Team Curry (N.C.) on the Under Armour AAU circuit, and Virginia scouted him in each of the first two live evaluation periods this month. Coach Tony Bennett took advantage of the opportunity to watch Foster compete against top UVA class of 2022 target Isaac Traudt last week.

Foster is the second member of his class to receive a scholarship offer from Bennett and company, who offered Philadelphia (PA) 6’7” wing Justin Edwards last month. Check out our Scholarship Picture Page for the latest scholarship numbers and offers in the classes of 2022 and 2023.

  1. I wonder why he’s visiting UGA. They have been 10th or lower in the SEC in the past 3 years. As for Athens, it is a nice enough place, but Charlottesville & Chapel Hill are nicer.
