Virginia Football Recruiting Hot Streak Continues With Two Offensive Line Pledges

As spring football winds to a close, the University of Virginia is picking up steam in class of 2018 recruiting.

UVA picked up two more commitments today, making it four within the past three days, five in the month of April, and seven in total. Memorial (Houston, TX) offensive lineman Joe Bissinger and Memphis Harding Academy (Memphis, TN) offensive lineman Will Lawrence are the Wahoos’ latest pledges. Both announced their commitments through Twitter.

Bissinger, who measured in at 6’4”, 291 pounds during The Opening in Dallas earlier this year, chose Virginia over offers from Air Force, Army, Kansas, several Ivy League schools, and others. He has earned Class 6A first-team all-district honors for his play on the offensive line each of the past two seasons.

Bissinger’s size likely indicates he’ll play guard. However, the versatile performer has played several positions on the line in high school.

Going by his offer list, consensus 3-star prospect Will Lawrence becomes one of Virginia’s top commitments in the Bronco Mendenhall tenure. Virginia beat out a number of the nation’s top programs for the 6’4”, 285-pound rising senior, who reportedly held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and USC, among many others.

Rivals, Scout, and ESPN rank Lawrence as a 3-star offensive guard. 247Sports ranks him as a 3-star tackle.
