Virginia Football Picks Up Two Recruited Walk-Ons

The Virginia football team welcomed a large group of recruiting visitors over the weekend and at least two of those recruits will be on Grounds again in the future. Hanover High’s Parker Chenault and York High’s Cole Lytle both have pledged to the program as recruited walk-ons.

Chenault decided to join the Cavaliers last week with this Tweet.

Chenault plays both linebacker and tight end at Hanover. Per his Hudl profile (highlights included), he measures 5’11” and 205 pounds.

“I really like the atmosphere there,” Chenault said via Twitter about his Virginia choice. “Everyone involved gets after it and works hard. I also like how Coach Mendenhall holds the team to such a high standard on and off the field. It definitely feels like a family and not just a football team.”

Lytle, meanwhile, announced his decision Sunday after the weekend visit to Charlottesville. He Tweeted his decision as well.

Lytle originally lined up at quarterback for York before an injury led to a move to safety and receiver. Per his Hudl profile (highlights included), he measures 6’3” and 191 pounds. His sister Ashley graduated from UVA, while his brother Dean attends Virginia Tech. Twin brother Adam Lytle announced Monday that he committed as a recruited walk-on at VT.

“Academics,100%. It’s a top 25 school in the country,” Lytle said via Twitter about his Virginia choice. “My family has some history at UVA. Lots of tradition. The list goes on and on really.”
