  1. Very good summary of the status of the defense. The comment half-way through the podcast about the play differential didn’t sound right. I checked the vasports website and they show 379 plays to 693 plays – UVA offense vs. UVA defense – which is the stat quoted in the podcast. However, based on the total yards and yards per play, we actually had 613 plays on offense. Still a difference but not as dramatic.

    1. Thank you for that clarification. Not sure where Jeff was quoting the stat from. Pro Football Focus shows Chris Glaser as the top snap count on offense at 734, Zane Zandier as the top snap count on defense at 659, and Hayden Mitchell as top snap count on special teams at 177. There’s a difference between snap count and plays because a penalty can cancel out an official “play” in the stats but it’s accounted for in the snap count in PFF.
