Virginia, Virginia Tech Football Game Canceled

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday that the football game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26 between Virginia and Virginia Tech has been canceled. The decision follows the tragic shooting deaths of UVA football players Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry last Sunday following a class trip.

Two other students, football player Mike Hollins and Marlee Morgan, were also injured in the shooting. Virginia held a memorial service to honor Chandler, Davis, and Perry on Saturday at the John Paul Jones Arena.

The Hoos and Hokies had played in every season since 1970. There was a three-year gap in the series in 1967-1969. The Cavaliers previously canceled their final home game with Coastal Carolina following the tragedy.

  1. As a fan, I of course hate to see the game cancelled.

As part of mankind, I understand why it has to be.

In 2007, you were there for us.

Now, we are here for you.

God be with the University of Virginia, in its time of need.
