TheSabre.com Fan Friday: UVA Football Players Complete Pro Day

Several football players took their shot at impressing NFL scouts this week at Virginia Pro Day. Darrius Bratton, Anthony Johnson, and Dontayvion Wicks took part as did former Hoos Mandy Alonso and Elliott Brown.

Bratton turned some heads with his performance. He posted the fast 40-yard dash time of the day at 4.43, a 38.5-inch vertical jump, and a 11’3″ broad jump. The latter would have rated third among defensive backs at the NFL Combine.

The quick 40 time brought back memories of this game-saving play at Louisville.

Wicks, who participated in the Combine, improved on his 40-yard time during the pro day workout. He ran a 4.62 in Indianapolis, but got as low as 4.52 in front of scouts Wednesday. Alonso, meanwhile, recorded 34 reps on the bench press.

Here’s a recap from Virginia Sports TV.

Here is an audio recap from Ahmad Hawkins too.

The 2023 NFL Draft begins on April 27 and runs through April 29. Virginia’s draft picks from the last five drafts were Micah Kiser and Andrew Brown (2018), Juan Thornhill and Tim Harris (2019), Joe Reed and Bryce Hall (2020), and Jelani Woods (2021).
