TheSabre.com’s Fan Friday: Home Opener!

After playing its last three regular season games on the road and the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, the Virginia football team finally returns to Scott Stadium tonight. Kickoff against William & Mary is set for 8 p.m. on the ACC Network.

The last time Hoo fans saw their team at home came on Nov. 10, 2018 late last season. That game produced a dominant Virginia win against Liberty, with the hosts winning 45-24. With another in-state foe on the schedule to start the 2019 season’s home slate, can the Cavaliers come through with another convincing win? To get a victory, they’ll need to defeat UVA’s former head coach and a long list of former players on the other sidelines. Mike London is the first-year coach of the Tribe and his staff includes six former players (and one other former assistant coach).

As always, TheSabre.com message boards are a good source for information and opinions on the matchup. At least one fan caught the W&M game in person last week. That post and a couple of others give you a fan-level view on the contest with the Tribe. The thread is here.

More from the fans follows in the “Fan Friday” series!

Post Of The Week

One reason that fan confidence is growing with the football program is the roster management on display with Bronco Mendenhall in charge. The post of the week this week comes from Hoos in da house, who put together a well thought out look at part of Mendenhall’s rejuvenation effort with Virginia. You can read the whole thread here.
