TheSabre.com Fan Friday: Can Virginia Football Beat Over/Under Wins Prediction?

It’s a little more than 100 days until kickoff for Virginia and the rest of the college football world. That’s never too far off, particularly for sportsbooks with futures bets. Over the last week, over/under win totals appeared for college football season in some places.

For the UVA and the ACC, some of the numbers shook out like this (remember lines can vary by book and change over time):

  • Boston College: 5.5 wins
  • Clemson: 9.5 wins
  • Duke: 6.5 wins
  • Florida State: 10 wins
  • Georgia Tech: 4.5 wins
  • Louisville: 7.5 wins
  • Miami: 7.5 wins
  • NC State: 6.5 wins
  • North Carolina: 8.5 wins
  • Pittsburgh: 6.5 wins
  • Syracuse: 6.5 wins
  • Virginia: 3.5 wins
  • Virginia Tech: 4.5 wins
  • Wake Forest: 6 wins

The Preferred Walk-Ons Podcast hosts debated the totals for the ACC (and some other teams as well) on this week’s show. If you missed it, you can click here or find it where you listen to podcasts. The PWO breakdown for each team lines up like this:

  • Mike M.: Boston College (OVER), Clemson (OVER), Duke (UNDER), Florida State (UNDER), Georgia Tech (OVER), Louisville (OVER), Miami (UNDER), NC State (OVER), North Carolina (UNDER), Pittsburgh (OVER), Syracuse (UNDER), Virginia (OVER), Virginia Tech (OVER), Wake Forest (UNDER)
  • Mike S.: Boston College (OVER), Clemson (UNDER), Duke (OVER), Florida State (OVER/PUSH), Georgia Tech (UNDER), Louisville (UNDER), Miami (OVER), NC State (OVER), North Carolina (UNDER), Pittsburgh (OVER), Syracuse (UNDER), Virginia (OVER), Virginia Tech (UNDER), Wake Forest (PUSH)

Virginia fans discussed that prediction for the Hoos in this message board thread too. Opinions ranged from “sadly that feels right” to “I think we will surprise people” within the conversation. The Cavaliers open the season on Sept. 2 against Tennessee in Nashville before they return to Charlottesville for the home opener on Sept. 9 against JMU. The rest of the schedule in order shakes out like this: @ Maryland, NC State, @ Boston College, William & Mary, @ UNC, @ Miami, Georgia Tech, @ Louisville, Duke, Virginia Tech.

So what do you think? Will the Wahoos beat the win total prediction?

  1. We will shock some people. Better QB play is the key. If Mike London could have gotten one, he’ll be coaching UVA now.
