I always wonder if the players we regularly see are in fact the best


players in terms of talent, or the ones who have the resources, mental and financial, to survive those tough, early years.

I mean, would a guy like Gulbis have made it on tour had he not had the financial wherewithal of a billionaire father? That's obviously an extreme example, but many of these "tennis kids" come from wealthy families. I find the stories of the players who didn't have that kind of support growing up, who really had to struggle early on like DC, uplifting.
