It does, still the critical factors for them imo are getting T. Lawrence,
hitting on the right players, and coaching. Etienne, Ross, Ferrell, a lot of their top players vs. Bama were 4*s. Dexter Lawrence was a 5*. They got the superstar QB though and put it together into the top team.
Looking at the rolling average of those years, Clemson is at .912, smack in between Ohio St. .927 and ND .897. ND is behind there, and not close w/ 5* count, but they're not untalented to the point of being +10 dogs year in and year out vs. Ohio St on that alone. Haskins was a 4* signed w/ Maryland, no structural reason ND can't get that type of guy at QB and more than hang.
