I was wondering the same thing about our mall in Danville...

Our mall feels like a ghost town nowadays, even though it looks really nice inside after the new owners renovated it a couple years ago. Sears left and the upstairs of Dunham's sits empty after Belk's moved the men's department back to the regular store. The new owners pushed out some longtime tenants because they were local instead of national brands and haven't filled those spots. Lots of empty space now.

Plus Dick's, PetCo, and KMart all have left in the past year. I was hoping Academy Sports would replace Dick's (I've grown to like Academy more anyways) but I don't know what might happen at the mall. Sears was added after the mall opened and I'm not sure that it would ever be filled. I know lots of locals hope a Kohl's would come but I don't see that happening unless Danville really gets another big economic development... Like a casino. The recent announcement that someone is likely going to buy and refurbish the 650,000 square foot White Mill is great news as it's been an eyesore across from the YMCA in the River District part of downtown. It still won't provide the number of jobs that would be needed to likely show a retail chain that Danville is fine. KMart and Sears had their own issues but seeing PetCo and Dick's close has probably scared some away. I honestly think Dick's was a little too pricy and the sales were never good enough but I've bought a few things from Academy and think they would do well.

Back to the mall, I don't think a trampoline park would make enough money to pay the mall rent in Danville. It's a tough investment right now for anyone.
